Former Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara joked that his new book was “written in the midst of an involuntary job change” — after he was canned by President Trump in 2017.
Sharing an excerpt of his upcoming “Doing Justice,” Bharara joked to the cream of the publishing and media crop at the Literacy Partners’ Evening of Readings gala, “It’s awkward to be in front of you all and no longer be able to subpoena you. Now all I can do is ask you to buy my book.”
Howard Stringer presented “60 Minutes” vet Lesley Stahl with the Lizzie Award, named after the Literacy Partners’ late benefactor (and Post columnist) Liz Smith. Stringer said of Stahl: “She’s gotten more scoops than Ben & Jerry.”
The event raised $1.1 million to help end illiteracy.
