The action-adventure fantasy film raked in Rs 52.25 crore on its first day and become the highest opener of all time in the Indian cinema. It is the first film to cross the Rs 50 crore benchmark ever. For this humongous response, lead actor Aamir Khan thanked the audience and said, “Just heard the 1st-day collection of Thugs, I am humbled by the love and affection of the audience. Thank you ?”.

While the Hindi version has earned Rs 50.75 crore, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions have earned Rs 1.50 crore in the southern markets. The performance of the film in these circuits are quite commendable as Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar is enjoying a wider release there. The film has enjoyed the national holiday of Diwali but it’ll be interesting to see how it fares in the weekdays.
