Varun Dhawan has been working with Shraddha Kapoor on the Remo D’souza directorial Street Dancer 3D and the pictures and videos from the Dubai schedule were truly entertaining. Varun made sure to keep his fans updated with all the BTS activities just like he did during the filming of Kalank. However, the Abhishek Varman directorial did not do too well at the box office and that fact could not be denied by anyone. Not even producer Karan Johar. And while that was that, there were still moments in the film that made us root for it on some levels. Even the tracks from the album were memorable with some great singers like Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal behind the mic.

Our reviewer, Urmimala Banerjee, had written in her review, “The film is based on timeless love and some of the lines may not connect with the youth.” And we believe that could have been one of the factors behind the film’s failure. Recently when lead actor of the film Varun Dhawan was interviewed by Hindustan Times, the topic of Kalank’s failure came up and the actor, very honestly admitted, “Kalank was not accepted by the audience because it was a bad film and somewhere we all failed collectively.” The actor who will be next seen in Street Dancer 3D with Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi added, “Making a film is a team effort. It’s wrong to blame it on the director and producer. And being a part of the team, I will take part of the blame as well. The film did let down people. We have collectively gone through why it didn’t work. Personally, it (failure) was important. I wanted the failure to affect me because if it doesn’t, then that means I don’t love my work.”

And we do know how much Varun indeed loves his work as he has given his best shot at everything that he has done so far. And we know this from his Instagram handle as the actor has always made sure to keep us updated with whatever prep he does for his roles.

Speaking about Kalank, the film was a love story based in the 1940s India and was produced by Karan Johar. Directed by Abhishek Varman, it also featured Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Kunal Kemmu and Kiara Advani.

Varun will be next seen in Street Dancer 3D and the remake of Coolie No 1.
