Second seeded Eshan Degamwar played like a champion to oust Nachiket Gore 6-0 to enter the third round of the fourth leg of PMDTA-KPIT Junior Champions Bronze series tennis tournament at the Metrocity Sports & Health Club, Kothrud, on Monday.

Degamwar controlled the game right from the start with his powerful backhand. Gore, a less-experienced player, gave his best, but failed to match Degamwar, who broke his serve thrice. Degamwar practices at PYC Hindu Gymkhana under coach Hemant Bendrey.

Top seeded Arjun Abhyankar also advanced into the third round with a 6-0 win over Shivam Basu. In the toughest match of the day, Vishnu Waghere overcomes Aditya Adate 6-5 (7-5).

Waghere faced a tough battle against Adate before beating him in tiebreaker. Later in the day, Priyansh Prajapati got the better of 10th seeded Manas Gupta 6-1.

In the girls’ first round, Mumbai’s Aleena Shaikh scored an easy 6-0 win over Mahi Gyan. Fourth seeded Shruti Nanajkar also advanced into second round defeating Ritika More 6-2.
