Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis resigned on Friday capping 15 days of tussle with ally Shiv Sena over power sharing in the state.

While the BJP and Sena fought the elections together and secured 105 seats and 56 seats respectively, they could not reach an understanding over government formation with the Maharashtra-based party demanding Chief Minister post by rotation and the ruling party hardening its position over the issue.

Fadnavis drove to Raj Bhavan with senior Cabinet colleagues and handed over the resignation to Governbor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
