The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation will collect glass waste from city residents on Saturday as part of a special drive under the My City, Beautiful City initiative.

Residents could drop off glass bottles, shards and other forms of glass waste at the 38 designated Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) and 11 special centres arranged for the purpose, Mayor V.K. Prasanth said on Thursday. The centres will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

The locations of the 38 MRFs are available on the Smart Trivandrum app which can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

The special collection centres are Vanchiyoor Junction, Chakka YMA, Pippinmoodu Junction, Jagathy ground, Vattiyurkavu (near ward committee office), Kazhakuttam (near ward committee office), Sreekaryam (near Chekkalamukku petrol pump), Pappanamcode (near engineering college), Kadakampally zonal office, and near the main entrance of MG College at Kesavadasapuram.

The Corporation organises special drives to help city residents dispose of non-biodegradable wastes. The collection calendar and location of the centres are available on the Smart Trivandrum app. Residents who had downloaded the app would get alerts on collection drives, the Mayor said. He urged the public to download the app and make use of the Corporation’s online services and waste collection drives.
