Union Minister of State for Labour Santhosh Gangwar said that it was quite natural for people of Telangana to move closer to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on observing the governance of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the manner in which it was working for the poor.

“I do not want to comment much about the government in Telangana but what I was told during my interactions with people here is that development has taken a back seat here. It seems the Chief Minister does not work from the Secretariat but from his farmhouse, which I found to be very strange,” he said, at a press conference at the party office on Wednesday.

Mr. Gangwar was in the city for the inauguration of the ESI teaching hospital and wanted the TS government to “walk along with the Central Government on development issues” and pointed out that people were bound to compare the BJP government at the Centre and here.

TS BJP president K. Laxman, who was also present at the press conference, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao should not be blaming officials for corruption in governance after being in power for the last five years.

“KCR has unfolded a new drama at the Collectors’ conference although we are happy he admitted that there is large-scale corruption during his governance. There is no Telangana spirit in the government because he has kept away all the sections which participated in the agitation and instead has joined hands with those against the separate State,” he said.
