Sean Bean’s Ned Stark met his maker all the way back in season one of Game of Thrones, and in his wake followed most of the rest of his family over the past seven seasons.
However, the actor has given his two cents over which Stark family member he thinks will make it to the end of the show alive.
“Who’s left?” Bean told Mashable. “Jon Snow is left, isn’t he? But Arya would have to be it. Yeah Arya will last – maybe she’ll be on the throne.”
Hang on, does that mean Sansa, Bran and (to a lesser extent) Jon won’t make it to the end? Well, if we were going have to choose one to survive, our money would probably be on mini assassin Arya too.
Bean also reflected on his monumental death in season one, which proved for the first time that no character is safe on Thrones.
“It was a memorable event – a bit of a shock,” Bean added. “I’m proud of all that, though. It’s great to be part of a phenomena, establish this character and then he’s there forever.”
The (living) Thrones cast are currently gearing up for the eighth and final season, due next year, which will apparently “flip the story on its head”.
“[Season 8] is about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death,” co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said.
“It’s an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season, and I think it honours very much what George set out to do – which is flipping this kind of story on its head.”
Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere in 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
