Mel Owen is set to make a surprising confession to someone who seems an unlikely confidante.

The blonde has been trying to stop her son, Hunter, from revealing what happened at New Year – and where her husband Ray really is.

But things take s turn for the worse and, in a bid to get herself out of trouble, Mel is forced to confide in someone who has every reason to hate her.

Jack Branning.

First, Mel is questioned by police and tries to avoid trouble by saying that she was with Jack on the night of the wedding – using him as a false alibi.

The police try to verify her story and speak to Jack – but will he support her.

Later, Jack demands an explanation when Mel is allowed home, and Mel confesses everything.

Jack tells her she should tell the truth, but determined to continue down her current path, Mel begs Jack to help her run away from Albert Square – with Hunter in tow.

Meanwhile, Shirley Carter is concerned about her friend, Jean Slater, abd tries to cheer her up by inviting her to an event at the E20, which neither of them are technically invited to.

Jean snaps at Shirley and storms off in anger, before she breaks down in hysterical tears in front of Shirley outside the club.

But will she explain what is happening?

Also, Tiffany sees Evie’s nasty side when she confronts Vix for not earning enough, and watches the leader kick Vix out of the gang.

And Masood tells Kathy, with whom he is desperately in love, that they should move permanently to Australia.

Finally, Bailey hurts her shoulder in a game of football with Mick, Mitch and Keegan.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC1.
