Deepika Padukone is the daughter of ace badminton player Prakash Padukone and she was into the sport for a brief period until she realised that she was meant to be an actor. The actress entered the Hindi film industry with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. And today she was one of the top rated actresses of Bollywood. DP was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat with Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and the period drama was a blockbuster hit. For over a year now, the actress has been away from the silver screen but she is ready to woo her fans soon. Deepika will be seen playing acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal’s role on the big screen. Chhapaak releases on January 10, 2020, but Deepika is still making headlines and for all the right reasons.

Recently, in an interview with Bombay Times, Deepika expressed her wish to play her father Prakash Padukone’s character on the 70mm screen. When asked as to which sports biopic she would want to see being made, the actress took her father’s name and said, “I understand the gender issue (smiles). But if I had to play a sports person, then it would be him or any sports legend from that era. That’s because of what they achieved in the circumstances, within the limited exposure and knowledge versus the kind of funds, facilities and visibility available to athletes today. But in spite of all that, to achieve that greatness and legendary status is commendable. Our yesteryear athletes inspire me.” We hope the filmmakers are listening.

While DP is yet to do a sports person’s biopic, the actress is already doing a sports drama, which is Kabir Khan’s ’83. The film is based on the Indian cricket team’s world cup win and it stars her husband Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev. Deepika recently joined the star cast of Khan’s directorial in London. For the ones unaware, Deepika will be seen as Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev in the film.

Besides, Deepika has completed the shoot of Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. The movie is based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor. DP will be seen romancing Vikrant Massey in Chhappak which releases next year.
