Jack Whitehall breaks down into tears as reveals importance of his elderly father Michael being alive to know his first baby with girlfriend Roxy Horner
Jack Whitehall became emotional as he spoke out on how much it means to him for his father Michael to still be alive when the comedian welcomes his first child.
Funnyman Jack’s girlfriend Roxy Horner, 32, is expecting their first child, with model Roxy announcing her pregnancy in May this year.
Speaking to Steven Bartlett on a recent episode of his The Diary Of A CEO podcast, Jack, 35, spoke of his fears of his television personality father, 83, dying before getting to enjoy some key moments of Jack’s life, including the birth of his firstborn.
Actor Jack said he’d purposefully pursued professional projects with his talent agent parent Michael, such as their Travels with My Father Netflix series, but he is looking forward to the more private family moments that are still to come.
Jack explained: ‘I wanted to have a baby because I wanted him to be around and to know my child and spend time with my kid.

‘I’ve seen how amazing he is with my niece. He’s the most loving person ever and so I want him to have a relationship with my kid.’
Getting tearful, he added: ‘I want to do all of these things and have success in my career that I can share with him, and he can see these things and enjoy them.
‘I do still think a lot about impressing him. His approval does still mean a hell of a lot to me.’
It comes after Roxy spoke out about her ‘horrific’ pregnancy as she prepares to welcome her first child with partner Jack.
The model announced in May that she was expecting a baby after having a miscarriage, and revealed on a recent episode of Steph’s Packed Lunch that they are having a baby girl.
Speaking to Steph McGovern , she said: ‘I’m having a little girl. We’ve thought of some names, but I feel like none that are like really sticking out. So if anyone’s got any ideas. I’m so excited, I can’t wait.’
Asked if she was nervous about the birth Roxy said: ‘Weirdly no, maybe I should be. I’m just very excited.
‘I’ve always wanted a baby and a family so it’s something that’s always been on the cards.’

Meanwhile, in an exclusive chat with MailOnline, Roxy opened up about her debilitating morning sickness, revealing it made her pregnancy ‘horrific.’
She explained: ‘Oh my God, I’ve been so sick.
‘I’m six months now, but up until literally six months, I was throwing up every day.
‘Once I hit six months, it let me have a break, and I was like, thank God, but I was throwing up eight times a day. It was horrific.’
She added: ‘Luckily, I had my friend who lives around the corner, and she came to visit me. I was in a bad way for a while.’

Roxy’s friend had to come to the rescue because Jack was away working in the States for her first three months of pregnancy, which Roxy mused was ‘very tough.’
Yet she reasoned: ‘I had my mum visiting me, and then he came back for the best bit when I started feeling better.’
The couple have been dating for more than two years and they reside in a £17.5million, five-bedroom home in Notting Hill with their pooch Coco.
She added that Jack had been ‘amazing’ throughout her pregnancy and that he recently treated her and her friends to a spa day to celebrate her birthday.
