Johnny Depp and his attorney Adam Waldman experienced a moment of levity during Waldman’s excessively tedious testimony when Waldman recalled his “lifetime” ban from Twitter.
Amber Heard’s attorney questioned Waldman, who appeared via a video feed about the details surrounding the ban. Shortly after he finished testifying, Waldman shared on Instagram George Orwell’s preface quote to “Animal Farm” along with a snapshot of his Twitter ban.

Waldman confirmed that Depp still retains him as legal counsel. He also testified that he’s seen “evidence of things that show [Amber Heard’s] statements to be false.” Waldman represented Depp in his defamation case against a British tabloid when the publication referred to Depp as a “wife-beater.” He is currently not representing Depp in the current defamation case against Heard.
Waldman posted on Instagram. “’Unpopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without the need of an official ban. The Press is extremely centralized, and most of it is owned by wealthy men who have every motive to be dishonest on certain important topics.’ -George Orwell Preface to Animal Farm, 1945.”
The post prompted several supportive comments. This included some remarks that Elon Musk would restore Waldman’s Twitter credentials. Musk expressed an interest in purchasing Twitter.
Adam Waldman and Johnny Depp laughed about the Twitter lifetime ban
Heard’s attorney asked Waldman about his Twitter account during his testimony. Waldman wasn’t sure when he opened the account. He also could not recall the duration of how long he had it. But he confirmed the account is suspended. He addressed why. “Well, I wrote several letters to Twitter,” he said. “To ask why I was suspended for life from their platform. And the response that I received was multiple violations of their policy.”
“So I asked, could they name one example of those multiple violations,” he continued. “And they responded by saying, now they were appealing without my asking them to do so … my suspension. That’s when they sent me another note that I was suspended for life.”
Heard’s attorney confirmed Waldman was suspended from Twitter for life. Waldman grinned in response to the remark. Cameras captured Depp also grinning and laughing in response to the remark.
Adam Waldman’s testimony in the Depp trial was often interrupted
In court, Waldman confirmed he’s known Depp since 2016. However, Waldman’s testimony was tedious, often interrupted, citing attorney-client privilege to Heard’s attorney’s line of questioning. However, he was able to still make a few remarks.
Waldman once referred to Heard’s domestic abuse accusations as an “abuse hoax.” He was able to answer a few questions on the stand. “Yes, to some extent I have seen evidence of things that show her statements to be false,” Waldman said about Heard, (via The Wrap).
Waldman confirmed that images and photos he received from rocker Marilyn Manson supported that Depp did not abuse Heard in a specific instance. “As to that incident Thanksgiving 2013, I think those videos and photographs, yes, demolished her claim,” he commented.
Waldman’s relationship with Depp seems to be personal too. He shared a birthday post to Depp on Instagram in 2020. “If this is what 57 looks like, I’ll take two of whatever you’re having! Happy birthday [Johnny Depp],” he wrote.
