Tottenham Hotspur must not be satisfied with qualifying for the Champions League and have the attitude of star man Harry Kane.
That’s the view of Mauricio Pochettino who revealed that Kane was disappointed with his World Cup – despite winning the Golden Boot.
When the 25-year-old dropped in to Tottenham’s training ground after his Russian exploits, Pochettino went to congratulate him, only for the England man to say "I’m really disappointed, I should have scored more goals.’
Pochettino added to the Daily Mail that Kane scoring six goals and getting to the semi final was ‘not enough’ for him.
"That’s why I love him," added the boss. "For him it is not enough to finish fourth in the World Cup or third in the Premier League."
The boss added that Spurs have to mount a more serious challenge in the Premier League and for other trophies.
The London club finished third last season to secure their place in Europe’s elite club competition for a third season running.
"Of course it is a massive success for the club to be in the Champions League for the third year in a row. But maybe that is not enough, maybe we need to change certain things. For me, it is not enough," Pochettino told British media.
Spurs, who are preparing to move into their new 850 million pounds ($1.1 billion) stadium for the new season, have yet to sign any players in the current transfer window.
"If some people believe the manager of Tottenham does not want trophies they are not right in their minds. I am here to win," said the Argentine.
"Can we win something this season? In football, all can happen. It will be tough because our opponents are at a level where every year they improve … we are competing in the same race but with a different car."
