Love Island star Shaughna Phillips overcame her crippling anxiety by driving by herself with her baby daughter Lucia for the first time.

New mum Shaughna, 29, explained that she has been experiencing anxiety since she gave birth to her daughter, but she told herself she needed to make sure her anxiety doesn't stop her from doing things.

Alongside a snap of Lucia sleeping in the front seat of her car in a car seat, the former islander began to share her struggles with anxiety since becoming a first time mum.

"First drive on my own? Complete it m8," she wrote. "Now I know this might not be a big deal to most people, but to me this was H U G E.

"I can’t explain how crippling my anxiety has been since Lucia arrived, I had anxiety through my pregnancy and I really thought it would ease up once she was here but my god I was wrong.

"I’ve spoken briefly with my midwife about it, and I think it’s going to be something I may need to speak to my doctor about for some help with, but I’m trying."

Shaughna added: "I know the more I let my anxiety stop me from doing things, the more Lucia will miss out on, and I’m determined to not let it get the better of me!"

The star went on to say: "Small steps," with a love heart, before adding: "(Before the mum police come for me, just want to assure you that passenger airbags were turned off, seatbelt was used correctly, it’s legal for her to be in the front with me, she was strapped in securely, picture was taken when I was parked, and if there’s anything else I’ve forgotten, I done that right as well lol)."

Jeremy Clarkson's daughter Emily Clarkson wrote: "You’re doing great babe," with four love hearts, before adding: "And have solidified my suspicions that I need the Doona [car seat and buggy] for travelling cos look at that."

Fans then shared their thoughts, with one writing to Shaughna: "You are doing a great job don’t let anyone tell you you’re not.

"Nobody is an expert you learn day by day. There is no rule book. You keep doing what you’re doing as the days go by it will get easier."

Another said: "Well done! I get you on the anxiety! That first drive is terrifying."

"This post has helped me so much! As you I have had anxiety and it's nice to see a mummy talking about it," a third shared.

Shaughna previously spoke of her anxiety being through the roof after having a hectic morning with her little one.

"We have had a morning," she began to share on Instagram. "Trapped wind and 2 sick tsunamis have made for a really upset Lucia and a really upset mama, nothing worse than hearing her cry and not being able to take it away from her."

Shaughna added: "Finally settled after about 3 hours, my anxiety is at a level 1628461027, and I'm ready for bed."

The star also recently went into detail about her emergency C-section after two days of labour – where she described her epidural as the "best invention ever".

After being given gas and air and an epidural, Shaughna revealed she started to push after her contractions really kicked in. But, her baby girl's heart rate started to skyrocket – and she had to have an emergency c-section.

She then wrote: "As soon as I knew baby was in distress I didn’t care how they got her out, I just wanted her here as quickly and safely as possible! The second I heard her cry every fear I had left my body.“
