Carol Vorderman, 61, featured on this evening’s Beat the Chasers in a hope to win big money for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA). However, her dreams were short lived as she lost to the Chasers, with Mark Labbett, 56, taking to Twitter to apologise to the TV personality for not making it on the show.

So sorry.

Carol made sure all eyes were on her as she made her entrance on this evening’s Beat the Chasers.

The maths whizz donned a tight-fitted lace dress that clung to her jaw-dropping figure.

However, this did not help the Countdown star beat the Chasers as she went home with nothing.

As Bradley Walsh welcomed the star she was shocked to know she had a stronger IQ than most of the Chasers.

To be safe after being successful on the show so far, Carol decided to take on three Chasers for £20,000.

Playing very well, Carol was sailing through the questions, with the Chasers left with only a few seconds on the clock.

Nonetheless, the tables turned when Carol had a brain blank for around four questions, leaving her to have to “pass” them.

Carol unfortunately lost the show, with the Chasers taking to Twitter to apologise to the star for her early exit.

In view of his 149,400 followers, Mark penned: “So sorry @carolvorders #BeatTheChasers.”

Fellow Chaser Darragh Ennis also tweeted about Carol’s performance, telling the star she played well.

He said in view of his 22,800 followers: “Carol was tempted with the £100k, but 18 second headstart was a very sensible move.

“It gave her time but she hit a sticky patch and was one question off £20k. Well played @carolvorders.”

Other celebrities who faced the Chasers this evening include Corrie’s Samia Longchambon, comedian Joel Donnett and Adrian Chiles.

Carol posted a string of images ahead of tonight’s show, showing off her outfit and telling her followers about her appearance.

The first picture showed Carol backstage in her dressing room where she took a close-up selfie in her garments.

Another snap saw the mathematician alongside The Chase host Bradley Walsh.

While a third photo showed Carol standing beside fellow contestant Dr Zoe Williams.

The BBC radio presenter admitted she was excited to be reunited with the host and quizmaster Mark Labbett.

In view of her 198,000 followers, she penned: “On Beat The Chasers tonight @itv 9pm.

“Even though we recorded it a long, long time ago it was lovely to meet @drzoewilliams….hello missus.

“And to be with my old muckers @markthebeastlabbett and @bradderswalsh… Hope you enjoy it. Sending all good thoughts.”
