Status Quo rocker Francis Rossi once snorted cocaine at a Prince’s Trust gig – as the royals sat nearby.
The Quo frontman, 69, met Prince Charles after hoovering up the white stuff off a toilet seat at the 1982 gig where the band performed.
He explained: “It doesn’t matter whether you see yourself as a staunch supporter of the Royal Family, or you think they should all be sacked, the fact is the Prince’s Trust is a great thing.
"A charity founded in 1976, it’s all about helping underprivileged young people between the
ages of 11 and 30. The toughest cases involve kids in care.
“Homeless young people, kids with drug problems or other problems that have brought them into trouble with the law.
“What a bunch of reprobates like us were doing being there I can’t tell you, or hope to justify. Only that we sold the place out and gave all the money to the Trust.
“So what if we were snorting coke off the toilet seats backstage? As far as we were concerned that was our business.
"Raising money for charity doesn’t mean you have to act like you’re some angel. We also got to meet Prince Charles and I can tell you now, he is a lovely, genuine man.”
The rocker made the admission in his new memoir I Talk Too Much: My Autobiography.
He also blasted the 2007 Concert For Diana, insisting that acts only performed for the publicity.
He said: “The truth is it was a huge publicity splash for all the acts involved. Does anyone really think they cared that much about Diana? I very much doubt it.
“Now I probably shouldn’t say stuff like that but I dare say it’s the truth. It was showbiz. Of course we wanted to do it. It’s high profile.”
Definitely a case of talking too much…
