A four-year-old LKG student of Kadamba International school in Sira in Tumakuru district was killed when she came under the wheels of a school bus on the premises of the school on Thursday. The deceased, Jhanavi, is the daughter of Bhakthakumar, a constable in Sira police station. The incident took place as children were leaving the school to go home. The child approached the bus from the back around 4 p.m. The driver did not see her and reversed the vehicle. Witnesses told the police that she came under the wheel and died on the spot.

The bus driver has been arrested, said the police. The girl’s parents and relatives staged a protest against the school management alleging negligence.
