Continuing the drive against violations of traffic rules and regulations, the Hubballi Police on Monday evening booked 757 cases against vehicle owners, in a special drive held in the Old Hubballi locality.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) B.S. Nemagouda himself led the special drive that was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Indi Pump and surrounding areas.

During the drive, two-wheelers, cars and public transport buses were checked.

Motorcyclists not wearing helmets, car drivers not wearing seat belts and those using cellphones while riding two-wheelers and driving cars and men occupying seats reserved for women in public transport buses were booked.

And, a total penalty of Rs. 82,950 was collected from them.

The drive was conducted with the help of six teams, including Assistant Commissioner of Police M.V. Naganur and Police Inspectors Shrikanth Totagi, S.D. Jalde, B. Santosh Kumar, J.R. Nikkam and Suresh Kumbar.

Mr. Nemagouda said that the special drive would continue to be held in the coming days so as to ensure adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
