Kannada activists staged a protest against Bharatiya Janata Party legislator B. Sriramulu for demanding separate statehood for North Karnataka, in Channapatna of Ramanagaram district on Tuesday.

The activists protested near the private bus stand on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. They raised slogans against the BJP State vice-president.

They also performed ‘ksheerabhisheka’ to a picture of Mr. Sriramulu and applied dung on another of his picture.

The protesters said ‘kshreerabhisheka’ was to demand good action from the former Minister, while pouring dung was to condemn his statements on statehood.

BJP leaders have never tried to solve prevailing issues of North Karnataka, including the Kalasa-Banduri and Mahadayi issues, said Ramesh Gowda of Kasturi Karnataka Janapara Vedike.
