The body of a second year B.Tech student was found near the railway tracks at Tekkali on Thursday in a case of suspected suicide. Ugiri Harshavardhan had reportedly sent a Whatsapp message to his contacts about his extreme step without mentioning any reason. According to police, Harshavardhan had left the hostel of the Aditya Institute of Technology and Management (AITAM) on Tuesday night without informing the warden and room mates.

Heated exchange

After receiving information from railway police, the college management confirmed that the deceased was Harshavardhan. The parents and relatives of the deceased had a heated argument with the management representatives on why they were not alerted immediately after the student went missing from the hostel. The father of the deceased, Mr. Ramprasad, and other family members who came from Veeraghattam sought an explanation from the management about his missing and death.

Tekkali CI Srinivasa Rao conducted an inquiry in the hostel. Some students reportedly told him that the deceased had a love affair and it could be a reason for the step. Helpline for people who are in distress – 100.
