Law Minister A.K. Balan has expressed satisfaction over the relief measures being undertaken in the tribal heartland of Attappady. Addressing a review meeting at Agali on Thursday, he said the rain had rendered 347 people in Attappady homeless. The five relief camps in the region were functioning well, he said. Food and medicine were available in camps mainly because of their access to Coimbatore.
Fire and Rescue Services workers from Tamil Nadu are helping their Kerala counterparts in clearing the roads of Attappady. Steps are also on to clear the road to Mannarkkad, where landslips disrupted road use.
