The State Cabinet meeting will be held on July 6 at 10 a.m.

It is likely to take a decision on the guidelines for the unemployment allowance, one of the major promises made in the run-up to the elections in 2014.

The Cabinet, at its previous meeting on May 31, had decided to pay a monthly allowance of Rs. 1,000 each to eligible unemployed youth.

The applicant would have to be between 22 and 35 years of age and possess a degree/diploma. The scheme would be applicable to more than one in a family. The Cabinet had also approved the modalities for implementation of the scheme.
