The Oriental Canon Law Society of India would hold its 28th annual conference at the Maria Rani Centre at Sreekariyam to discuss, among other things, issues relating to crime and punishment in the Church. The three-day meet will begin on July 16.

Society secretary Varghese Palathingal told a news conference here on Saturday that besides discussing the procedures to be followed within the Church on instances of crimes and punishment, the conference would also focus on the POCSO Act. Cardinal Baselios Cleemis would inaugurate the meet, which would have Syro-Malabar Curia Bishop Sebastian Vaniyapurackal as the keynote speaker.

The conference would also feature a panel discussion featuring civil and criminal law experts James Vadakkumcherry, James Thalachelloor and Biju Perumayan, he said.
