Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday blamed university Syndicates for the poor standard of education in the higher learning portals of the State.
Addressing a meeting of Syndicate members of various universities in the State as a continuation of the Vice Chancellors’ conference, he said the government’s intervention in the past two years had reaped success in the general education sector, but there was no improvement in the quality of university education.
Mandate of Syndicates
“The mandate of Syndicates was to improve the quality of university education. One can see inertia and neglect in the functioning of Syndicates. There is no justification for this. Syndicates cannot be indifferent to matters related to conduct of examinations, valuation, announcement of results, and distribution of certificates. If examinations and announcement of results are delayed inordinately, the academic future of the students will be affected,” he said.
The Syndicate representatives of various universities made a presentation about their respective institutions.
