A Joint Director of Collegiate Education on Friday visited the Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science, where a student died while taking part in an unauthorised disaster management drill.
Coimbatore Joint Director S. Kala said she visited the college to inquire into the incident. She held inquiries with the college authorities, but couldn’t talk to the students as the management had declared a holiday on Friday. She also collected the letters and the emails exchanged between Arumugam — the trainer who nudged the girl from the second floor balcony, resulting in her death — and the management.
Ms. Kala said she had submitted a report to the Collegiate Education Director, the District Collector and the Higher Education Secretary.
Meanwhile, Bharathiar University has received a report from the college. Sources said the university had forwarded to the college a communiqué it had received from the Chennai office of the National Service Scheme (NSS), and had received a reply in this regard. It will be forwarding the college’s response to the NSS.
