The Congress party on Wednesday asserted it will win the next election in the State. All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Assembly constituencies in united Adilabad district Srinivasan Krishnan, gave a call to party workers to go back to respective constituencies and expose the wrong policies and programmes of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government to the general public.
The AICC leader was in Adilabad to review the situation of the party in 10 Assembly constituencies. He reviewed along with leaders of the constituency and expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the units.
Mr. Krishnan asked the cadres and leaders to go to villages and tell people that the Congress was with them. “Tell them the Congress is with SCs, STs, minorities and expose the bad programmes like the Rythu Bandhu Scheme,” he exhorted.
Conveying a message from Congress president Rahul Gandhi, the AICC leader assured the cadres not to worry about party nominations for the coming election. He said candidates will be chosen based on the opinion of local workers,” he revealed.
Enthusiastic Congress workers and leaders had earlier received Mr. Krishnan on the outskirts of town and escorted him to the venue. Slogans were raised all through the way as well as at the crowded venue.
More number of cadres than expected had arrived at the place as leaders of different groups wanted to do a ‘show of strength’ as was apparent from the proceedings.
The groupism in Adilabad Assembly constituency unit of the party also came to the fore in the process.
The supporters of AICC member Bhargav Deshpande, Mahila Congress leader G. Sujatha and former District Congress Committee president C. Ramchander Reddy raised slogans hailing respective leaders in what was considered to be a jarring scenario by senior leaders.
District Congress Committee president A. Maheshwar Reddy, former MLC K. Premsagar Rao, DCC working president Naresh Jadhav, former MLAs Athram Sakku and Soyam Bapu Rao and others also participated.
