Launching its electoral preparation after concluding its bus yatra in May, the Congress party organised its first review of districts in Nalgonda on Sunday.
The review aims to garner feedback starting from booth level, and to build up the organisation ahead of the polls. “We are all united. All representatives and partymen are encouraged to express their grievances in the review,” said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committe president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy launching the exercise.
Strengthening the party is the agenda of the exercise, All India Congress Committee in-charge for Telangana Saleem Ahmed said and added that a mobile phone application — Shakthi — was being promoted among the cadre.
“Through the Shakti app, a Congressman from the booth level is directly connected to president of the party Rahul Gandhi. The application enables sharing of feedback, in text, image or video format across all the ranks,” he said.
The politically charged dais here was also a platform to showcase unity among the senior leaders.
“My only aim is to remove KCR from power. And when the Congress comes to power in 2019, he along with his family will be sent to prison like Nawaz Sharif was in Pakistan, for corruption,” expelled MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said.
Hinting at early polls by the end of the year, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy urged the party cadres to be prepared and mobilise strength across all segments. Concluding the meet, Mr. Saleem Ahmed advised minorities to not vote the TRS party to power in 2019. “Remember, if you are voting to the TRS, it is voting the BJP to power,” he said.
A closed-door review of each constituency along with its MLA and cadre was held later.
