Chirag Delhi councillor Pooja Jakhar said that she would be appealing the decision in the High Court after her nomination was set aside by a sessions court on Monday.
“There were no problem when the Election Commission accepted my papers at the time of the nomination. Then why is there a problem now?” she said.
The petition had been filed by BJP’s Pratibha Chauhan who had lost to the AAP candidate.
Ms. Jakhar said, “This is a ploy by them [the BJP]. They are always trying to create problems for us.”
Passing the ruling, the judge said that there were discrepancies with regard to the dating of the affidavit and its notarisation which cannot be overlooked. Consequently, a re-election has been ordered.
