The Students Federation of India (SFI) district committee is set to organise a 15-day cycle yatra in the district from July 25 to press for a charter of demands including immediate solution to a plethora of issues plaguing State-run schools and colleges, including Tribal Welfare educational institutions, in the district.

The cycle yatra will begin from the Charla mandal headquarters and conclude in the tribal heartland of Bhadrachalam.

The activists will visit the government educational institutions en route to identify the problems being faced by the students and infrastructure deficiencies such as lack of own buildings and other basic facilities, said SFI district committee president Madakam Satish.

The long pending issues like lack of government degree college in Charla mandal headquarters and own building for the Ashram high school for boys at Satyanarayanapuram will be highlighted through the yatra, he said, adding that a memorandum will be submitted to the authorities of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Bhadrachalam after the conclusion of the yatra seeking redressal of students’ grievances.

Abysmal infrastructure and lack of basic facilities like adequate toilets in various government schools will be brought to the notice of the authorities, he said.
