The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has postponed the protest it planned to hold along with allies on July 31 against the Coimbatore Corporation’s water supply contract with French firm Suez.

A release from the party’s Coimbatore urban south district in-charge and Singanallur MLA N. Karthik said the political parties had planned to hold the protest at 10 a.m. in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk office against the civic body awarding contract to Suez for implementing and maintaining the project for 26 years.

The reason for postponement was “unavoidable”, Mr. Karthik said and added that the parties would announce a date later.
