The Proctorial Board of Delhi University has come up with a list of measures to be taken to prevent ragging on campus in the new session.

Joint control rooms

In a meeting, attended by senior university officials along with representatives from the Delhi Police, DTC and Delhi Metro, it was decided that the university will set up two joint control rooms — one in North Campus and the other in South Campus from July 20 to July 28 to deal with any instance of ragging.

Strict vigil

Colleges and hostels have been asked to restrict entry of outsiders and keep a vigil at all eating joints inside the campus.

It has also been decided that police pickets will be placed outside every college to deal with any act of indiscipline and ragging.

The police will patrol the campus to take speedy action in case of any untoward incident on campus.

The police said women personnel in plain clothes will be deployed at the university to nab those who indulge in eve-teasing or ragging. The DU Proctor’s Office has also requested the Delhi Police to deploy decoy martial arts-trained women personnel from the Special Police Unit for Women and Children at sensitive points in and around colleges.
