The main accused in the Edappal theatre abuse case has approached the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) against the ‘unfair’ treatment being meted out to his daughter by PSM College of Dental Science and Research, Akkikkavu, where she is a final year BDS student.

In a complaint to the commission, Moideen Kutty, who was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for abusing a minor girl inside a cinema hall at Edappal, said his daughter had been proscribed from attending her classes for “being the daughter of an accused.”

Moideen Kutty said the college authorities had first called up his wife and told her not to send their daughter to the college as “she was the daughter of an accused.”

He said that when his daughter approached the college to pay the examination fee as per the Principal’s directive, she was denied permission to do so.

His complaint said the college authorities had asked his daughter to take her examination after a lapse of six months.

The college authorities could not be contacted for their comments.
