Electricity Minister P. Thangamani on Saturday said that the Tangedco’s e-tender process is held in a transparent manner and added that he will hold full responsibility, if there is any fault.
Speaking to mediapersons at Senthamangalam here on Saturday, where he inaugurated Amma Park and a physical exercise centre, he said that all tenders were held in a transparent manner. Transparency is maintained in the appointment and transfer of employees. “If there is any fault in any tender, I will hold the responsibility,” he added.
Asked about farmers’ opposition to erecting high-tension power transmission towers on agricultural lands, he said that three rounds of talks were held with farmers’ association over the issue and termed it as “good development”. With the full co-operation of farmers, towers will be erected, he added.
He said that the State is purchasing electricity at low price when compared to earlier purchase of Rs. 10 to Rs. 15 per unit and said that currently 6,000 mega watt electricity is purchased from Kalpakkam and Kudankulam. The Centre had agreed to provide coal in additional wagons from July 30.
