The apartments being constructed for government employees and officials will be completed by December 31, according to Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Narayana said the government was constructing 3,840 flats. The government was using shear wall technology, and construction of first floor would be completed in a week.

The government has set a target of completing the city civil courts, which comes up in 2 lakh square feet, before December 31, he said.

Construction works on five towers of State Secretariat, offices of heads of departments had already begun.

Of this, 50 floor and 45 floor buildings would have to be constructed, hence it would take 24 months to complete.

Tenders have already been invited for the High Court, he said.

The structural designs for Assembly buildings were being scrutinised.

All these works would cost Rs. 11,000 crore. It would require 4 to 6 months for foundation stone alone.

Works on road network were going on at brisk pace, and would be completed by March next year, he said, adding, works would gain momentum after monsoon.
