The district administration, in association with the District Employment Office, will observe the second week of July, starting July 9, as ‘Entrepreneurship guidance and skill development awareness week’ across the district, Collector K. Rajamani has said.
An awareness rally would be organised in the city on July 9. Subsequently, the camps would be held at taluk and panchayat union offices. Those who wish to undergo skill training can register their names at the respective offices during the campaign. Youth can also get in touch with the Deputy Director of Employment at the District Employment Office to undergo the skill training, he said in a press release.
Seven vehicles seized
Revenue authorities have seized four lorries for carrying loads over and above permitted level and three other vehicles as their drivers were found to be speaking on the mobile phone while driving. The vehicles were seized during vehicle checks conducted on Ariyalur-Keezhapazhur Road on July 4 and 5. Steps have been taken to temporarily suspend the driving licence of the drivers of the vehicles.
The Tiruchi Corporation has invited applications from residents who wish to avail government grant for building toilets in their houses under Swachh Bharat Mission. Residents who are economically backward can apply with the respective zonal Assistant Commissioners or at the main office of the Corporation, Commissioner N. Ravichandran said in a press release that residents would be given Rs. 6,000 which includes grants of Rs. 4,000 from the Centre and Rs. 2,000 from the State government. The City Corporation would contribute Rs. 2,000 as its share and the beneficiaries will have to contribute Rs. 4,000 for constructing an individual household toilet.
