Maple Software CEO G.S. Shiv Kumar, who is also former Chairman of CII, Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday called for establishing an exclusive MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) park in Visakhapatnam for the defence sector.
Speaking at a session on ‘financing MSMEs’ here, he said in view of the huge opportunities for MSMEs, the idea of setting up a park dedicated to MSMEs should be considered by the State government.
Mr. Shiv Kumar, who is the convenor of MSME panel of the CII, welcomed the government’s decision to open MSME parks in all the 175 Assembly constituencies. “Bigger units such as the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) should source at least 20% to 30% of their requirements from the MSMEs, as the latter are playing a key role in our economy,” he added.
SBI GM Raghuram Shetty briefed about the bank’s schemes meant for MSMEs. He said they had disbursed Rs. 12,600 crore to the MSME units. SIDBI Deputy General Manager Mani Lal Chaudhary gave a presentation on Mudra scheme. Regional Business Leader of YES Bank, Vaibhav Sharma said they were the first to launch an exclusive app for MSMEs.
