The second day of the Pavitrotsavam festival witnessed the ‘Grandhi Samarpana’ at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple in Kapila Theertham here on Wednesday. Pavitrotsavam, believed to undo sacrilege, is a purification ritual to cleanse the temple and its precincts of aberrations by priests, employees and devotees.

Agama Sastra prescribes rules to be followed while entering the temple and visitors are prohibited from entering a shrine during birth or death of family members or during menstruation.

Priests performed ‘Homam’ and other Vedic rituals in the Kapileswara Swamytemple’s Yagashala in the day.
