‘New orders will be approved at next Cabinet meeting’

The GVMC Contractors Association that had stopped all the works protesting over the GST deadlock from November 15 called off its stir after an assurance by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Karikal Valaven that their demand would be considered.

To press for their demand, the GVMC contractors also launched a relay fast from November 23.

“The G.O. 381 related to the finalisation of GST rates issued for the CRDA on November 26 will be applicable to the GVMC too,” Mr. Karikal Valaven told the striking association.

Besides, Visakhapatnam East MLA V. Ramakrishna Babu, on behalf of all the MLAs in the city, visited the relay fast camp. He promised that an order making the GO applicable to the GVMC would be approved in the next Cabinet meeting.

Tribal Sub-Plan grant

The association representatives including honorary president Narayana Reddy, president Veera Reddy, convener R. Venkata Rao and general secretary G. Chandamouli, also met Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan who assured them that the Tribal Sub-Plan grant would be released soon and the SC Sub-Plan and Special Development Grant bills would be released through Comprehensive Financial Management System.

“The Municipal Commissioner promised that the G.O. 94 on price escalation will be implemented. Pending deposits totalling Rs. 4.9 lakh have been released,” a statement quoted Mr. Chandramouli as saying.
