The Delhi High Court on Tuesday expressed displeasure over non-filing of status report by the authorities on the expenditure incurred on dousing the fire which broke out in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar in May.
A Bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar had called for the cost incurred on the dousing the fire so that financial penalties can be fixed for the huge expenditure to the public service.
Apart from police and fire department, teams from DDMA, Air Force and civil defence were engaged in the relief and rescue operations. The helicopter of Indian Air Force made three sorties to extinguish the fire.
The fire that broke out on May 29 was doused after 19 hours by 65 firefighters.
The blaze spread inside the godown of a private company, which is in the business of providing rubber raw material for retreading tyres.
