In a joint effort with eight institutions and the Department of Science and Technology, the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras commissioned the world’s first remotely operable local electrode atom probe, a high-performance microscope, to boost nanotechnology research.

DST Secretary Ashutosh Sharma inaugurated the National Facility of Atom Probe Tomography. Other partners are the IITs of Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Ropar and the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials.
