Tamil Nadu stands third among the States with highest Income Tax collection in the country, said T.P. Krishnakumar, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore, on Tuesday.

At the Income Tax Day programme, the Chief Commissioner said that every year, the target for Income Tax collection was on the rise. This was one of main taxes collected by the government and the revenue from it was used to fulfil the basic needs of the public and for construction of infrastructure. Apart from banking and insurance sectors, the Income Tax Department was fully computerised. The assessees could submit their queries, requests, and grievances online and the grievances would be redressed within a specific period. The top tax payers here were felicitated during the function.
