Infosys Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BMRCL to build a metro station at Electronics City and maintain it for 30 years. The Foundation would be spending up to Rs. 200 crore to build the station at Konappana Agraharam, near the Infosys campus.

As part of the MoU, it will get naming rights for the station, which will be called ‘Infosys Foundation – Konappana Agrahara Metro station’. The station is part of the metro line under Phase II from R V Road to Bommasandra.

The MoU was signed by Sudha Murthy, chairperson of the Foundation, and BMRCL MD Ajay Seth in the presence of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy at Vidhana Soudha, on Thursday.

Prior to signing the MoU, Ms. Murthy said the initiative is an effort to join hands with State government to provide metro connectivity, which is the need of the hour in Bengaluru. “This is a small expression of gratitude, to give back to our motherland and serve the people,” she said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy thanked the Foundation. “The contribution of the Foundation to society is a known fact. The State government will extend all support to the Foundation to implement the project,” he said.
