The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in a case registered in connection with the alleged irregularities in granting AICTE (All-India Council for Technical Education) accreditation to Thejus Engineering College at Pazhanji.

Officials said the chargesheet was filed by arraigning C.C. Thampi, chairman of the college, and D.K. Subrahmanium and K. Vasudevan, members of the AICTE committee that inspected the college, as accused in the case.

The CBI will soon be filing a supplementary chargesheet against Manju Singh, former regional director of the AICTE.

Case details

As per the case, the two-member committee inspected the college on June 15, 2009 instead of a three-member team originally appointed by the AICTE and completed the process in two hours. It was after the inspection that the college even applied for electricity connection.
