A Kannada organisation has expressed disappointment with regard to the State Budget proposals saying that it is disappointing to the people of Belagavi.

“The pending demand for shifting government department offices to Suvarna Soudha has not been fulfilled. If that had happened, it would have meant a meaningful step towards decentralisation. But this has sadly not happened,” said Ashok Chandargi, convener of Federation of Kannada organisations.

“Similarly neglected are attempts at improving city infrastructure like building overbridge, underbridge, ring roads and underpasses. The need for a round-the-clock water supply and underground drainage for Belagavi have not been addressed,” he said.

“However, the fault lies with our people’s representatives. They have not placed demands for the comprehensive development of the district together. These leaders are interested only in getting cabinet berths. They raise a hue and cry only when they are deprived of power. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy should fulfill these demands soon,” he said.

He has alleged that the super-specialty hospital sanctioned to Belagavi is an old announcement that has been repeated.
