The first meeting of Love Commandos, the New Delhi-based social organisation working against the scourge of ‘honour killing, in the city was held here on Sunday.

According to a release, experts spoke on the legal rights and human rights the citizens are entitled to. The participants, most of whom facing social boycott, family hurdles or wrath of the community, were told how to seek the help of the police and the judiciary in the event of violation of those rights. Also, the misconceptions about sexuality and gender prevalent in society were discussed. In the afternoon, seven participants, who were in need of urgent help, were given exclusive access to legal experts and human rights activists to clear their concerns.

The first meeting in the State was held in Kochi. It was decided to hold a similar meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on August 26.
