An automatic signal system will be installed at Koyilandy town soon as part of a major traffic improvement plan, which was approved at a meeting chaired by K. Dasan, MLA, here on Monday.

The Public Works Department (PWD) will prepare the project sketch in consultation with the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation.

To rein in anti-social elements, installation of closed-circuit television cameras at crucial locations will be considered. A meeting to discuss and approve the project will be held on July 26.

To ensure sufficient space at the bus station, a transformer of the KSEB will be shifted from the area soon, and the municipality will bear its expenses.

The compound walls of the Koyilandy court and the taluk hospital too will be reconstructed in such a way to facilitate better vehicular movement.
