Transport Minister D.C. Thammanna has said that he was working on bringing KSRTC out of its losses of Rs. 600 crore. “My aim is to make KSRTC profitable,” he said in Maddur on Wednesday.
After laying the foundations stone for some development works, the Minister said he will initiate measures to develop KSRTC. He said he was confident of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy making an announcement regarding waiving off farmers’ loans and providing free bus passes to students in the budget on Thursday.
The government will construct a bus stand with modern facilities in Mandya town. Steps will also be initiated to revive the State-owned Mysugar mill in Mandya, he said.
The Minister expressed confidence of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda contesting the MP election from Mandya and Mr. Kumaraswamy taking a “suitable decision” related to discharging water to Tamil Nadu.
