A migrant worker from Bihar working at a hollow-block manufacturing unit at Vanjipalayam was found murdered on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Pramod Manjhi (24) from Bihar.

According to police, the incident occurred when Manjhi and his friend while returning home was intercepted by two persons on a motorcycle and threatened Manjhi at knife-point to part with money.

As he said that he did not have money, the duo pushed his friend from a culvert. When Manjhi questioned its action, they stabbed him with the knife and fled the place.

Motorist killed

M. Vanchinathan (28) was killed in an accident involving his vehicle and a private bus at Uttukuli on Monday morning.

According to the Uttukuli police the incident happened on the road over bridge across the railway track near Thimmanaickenpalayam when Vanchinathan swerved in front of the bus.

To avoid hitting Vanchinathan, the driver of the bus proceeding from Erode to Tirupur, swerved the vehicle but lost control of the vehicle, hit the motorist, who was thrown off the bridge and fell to death. The bus came to a halt after hitting the side wall.

The police said that four bus passengers, who were injured in the accident, were rushed to the Tirupur government hospital.

Valliammal (93) fell to death in a well in front of her son Subbaiyan’s house at Kalivelampatti, near Palladam, on Sunday night. Twelve persons were injured in a multiple collision of vehicles near Thekkalur on Monday.

The Avinashi Police said that to avoid hitting a small goods carrier that fell off its sides as driver lost control of the vehicle, four cars that followed the goods carrier collided with one another.
