After riding aboard a bullock cart over the weekend, Union Minister Vijay Goel on Tuesday rode a cycle at Paharganj here to protest against the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government for not reducing the VAT on fuel prices.

Mr. Goel claimed the Delhi government was not paying heed to people’s suffering due to the rising fuel prices. “It is not a symbolic agitation, it will go on till the Kejriwal government slashes VAT on petrol and diesel,” he said.

The Modi government being sensitive to problems of people due to rising prices of petrol and diesel, Mr. Goel said, had reduced Rs. 2.5 on it and now it was Mr. Kejriwal’s turn to do the same and reduce the prices by at least Rs. 5, the Minister said adding that the Kejriwal government realises Rs. 29 as VAT on petrol and diesel, he claimed.

Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP Poorvanchal Morcha staged a demonstration at the AAP office demanding a decrease in fuel prices. Party workers were, however, restricted from reaching their destination.

“It is very unfortunate that the Aam Aadmi Party…is not decreasing VAT…and the people of Delhi are suffering,” Morcha president Manish Singh said.
