Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday distributed Rs. 2.15 crore to 43 families of AgriGold victims as ex-gratia. He distributed the cheques to the next of kin at at grievance hall near his residence at Undavalli near here. Each family was paid Rs. 5 lakh.

Mr. Naidu said the State government was committed to recover every paise from the AgriGold group and pay it back to the victims. The victims would have to repose faith in the government. They would have to form as a committee and implead themselves in the court case. The government would extend all possible help and cooperation.

The Opposition parties were trying to create hurdles,while the government was trying to resolve the deadlock. They were trying to get political mileage, he said.

Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was talking irresponsibly that AgriGold had assets worth of Rs. 30,000 crore. But the victims or victims’ associations did not condemn it. “I took the responsibility of solving your problem. Let us fight together and find a solution,” he said.

There were 32 lakh victims in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar islands. In AP alone, there were 19 lakh victims, who deposited Rs. 3,941 crore. The government registered 14 cases and arrested the accused, he added.

Deputy Chief Minister (Home) Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said Mr. Naidu wasmonitoring the case.
